Mexico Ride

November 17, 2011

The thing that first got me into long distance cycling was the sense of adventure. Its a pretty cool accomplishment to ride a bike to some far off destination. In this case I gathered a few friends for a bike ride to the Tijuana border. 107 miles from my doorstep to the border, everyone met up from different locations but we all rode from San Clemente south together, PCH almost the whole way. Here are some photos and if you want to see the route, click here.

I like patterns

This is my current room, I like patterns and easy to remove design decor in temporary homes.

Kyle Lightner

August 22, 2011

I don’t usually like to go take pictures with other photographers, but with Kyle Lightner, we just hang out and both happen to have cameras on us.

New York: Montauk and East Hampton

August 1, 2011

Here are a few photos from a recent trip to New York. I had business with Ciiair/Gin in New York and Yata of the Buenos Dias Surf Garage. Yata showed my friends and I a fantastic time in Montauk and East Hampton.

Learning to shoot

July 4, 2011

A few of my friends know that I like to go out to the desert and shoot guns, and since only a couple of my friends are gun owners, I am usually bringing someone less experienced. My friend Kelly has asked on several occasions to join me, I told her I would for her birthday some months ago. This was Kelly’s first time shooting a gun and it was fun for me to teach her. This rifle packs a punch (.308) and can be a little daunting, but Kelly was not gun shy and did quite well. Here are a couple photos, Kelly is also a photographer and her work can be seen here and here.

Gin Shirts

July 1, 2011

I had the pleasure to photograph some of the new “Gin” shirts that were just finished. Some of these are being shipped to France and the rest I am personally delivering to a surf shop out in Montauk, New York.

This is the shirt I would be wearing right now, if I was wearing a shirt.

I love red meat

June 29, 2011

I just realized that I have not updated this in over a month, but I have been shooting a lot so I will try and put those photos up soon. I have just been so busy riding my bike and all, and after a good bike ride I love me some meat.

Rosarito to Ensenada bike ride

May 25, 2011

I recently had the privilege of doing the famous Rosarito Ensenada 50 mile fun bicycle ride. Kyle Robbins of Ciiair/Gin sponsored me and joined the ride as well. We had some great fish tacos, mucho cervesa and had so much fun on our bikes riding with the locals and gringos. Kyle on his swap meet special bike and photos taken with a camera purchased the same day for 8 dollars.

My Ride

May 23, 2011

My friend recently sent me a photo of an old car with a surfboard on top and I instantly remembered my old car and the pictures I took of it all the time with surfboards on top. I then thought how I used to be so much cooler. I don’t surf as much as I used to and actually have a lot of the same boards as I did in college, but I have a different car and bike. Here is a retrospective of my past ride.

Circa 2005: 1966 Chevelle Malibu and my 80′s Team Fuji road bike.

Today: 2003 Toyota Echo and 1984 trek

I drive both cars into the ground, the Chevelle literally died. I ran the engine dry and it now belongs to my dad, it is in pieces in his garage. I take a little better care  of my vehicles today, especially my bike. My car and bike today go much longer distances. Back then I think the furthest I ever rode my bike in one day was 20 miles, today its 200 miles. My Chevelle did the quarter mile in 15.5 seconds @ 91 mph and got around 12 mpg. My echo goes much slower but can still do a burnout and has some nice e brake turns up its sleeve and manages 35-40 mpg. I guess you could say I have “matured” a little.
