Texas revisited

September 20, 2008

I recently got my personal photos of Texas printed through Shutterfly (the black and whites had a magenta shift). Previously I stated I wasn't going to include any of the people shots because they were personal. Well I looked through the prints and decided to share a few.

this is a popular thing to do in Texas, drink on the river

this river wasn't so warm, Jessie was chilly

I like this photo of John but this doesn't do him justice.

me of course and we were all tied together fyi

New Bike + Ride

September 16, 2008

Since nothing good has come from Amtrak except a $25 voucher, and Fed Ex is still taking their time, I decided it was time for me to do something. I decided to buy a new bike. I wanted a road bike with gears for going on longer rides, yes I know people ride fix gears very far, but that's working harder to look cool. So after going through many options of new bikes I decided I don't want to contribute to all the waste when creating new things in foreign countries and purchased a used racing bike from the 80's.

This is my new bike. An old steel lugged frame equipped with campy.

My first ride was with my brother to the farmers market

he's faster than me

The Ladera Ranch Farmer's Market. This is only a portion of it.

I plan on getting my bike painted when my family and I visit Italy for my brothers competition. So I will have some color photos when I return.

Airplanes

September 14, 2008

I don't know if you know this about me, but I like airplanes. I don't like sitting in cramped airplanes but I do like looking at them and seeing them fly

everyone's got one of these shots, but this is mine

I prefer window seats

High Speed San Francisco

September 12, 2008

The last black and white film I tried out was expired Kodak T-MAX P3200. It is for low light or if you want really grainy photos. I generally don't like a lot of grain. 400 speed is about as much as I like. So here are some really grainy night shots that I did like.

leaving Outside Lands was a nightmare

but the dust everyone kicked up, the lights and trees made a nice photo

I liked learning the public transportation system

Jessie and I both didn't like being cold

we tried to keep each other warm

Outside Lands

September 10, 2008

After my trip to Texas, Jessie and I went to San Francisco for the music festival Outside Lands. Here are some shots I took during the day with Fuji Neopan 400 and my trusty mechanical Rollei.

lots of bikes in SF

too many people at festivals

Twin Peaks stage, with art by Barry McGee

I purposely expose some of the first frame of the roll. This is the shot I got on this roll. Jessie waiting for the bus.

My favorite performances were Bon Iver, Wilco, Cake and of course Radiohead. It was just too crowded for Radiohead.

Texas in brief

September 8, 2008

I realized a lot of the photos I have from Texas have more value to me than they would to you. The people mean something to me, therefore I enjoy the photographs more. I think I have been doing that in my recent posts as well. Here are some photos I enjoy without people I know.

I really like the Houston city scape

Panning for Gold

September 6, 2008

Almost every Sunday my father asks if I want to go panning for gold. I usually do something with my girlfriend but she was down to come along. The following black and white pictures were shot with Fuji Acros 100 film with my Rollei. The same roll as the previous post. This is the film that I tested for my Zone class in college but I had some technical difficulties and they came out a little dark.

Malibu Revisited

September 4, 2008

About a month ago my friends, Adam Hughes and Byron Remeyer, and I went up to Malibu. I took a couple black and white shots at the time but recently developed them thanks to the facility at Mission VIejo High School and Mr. Tsang. Here are my favorite three.

Lots more to come, I just finished scanning the texas photos, so keep an eye out for them

Preview of my Adventures

September 3, 2008

Below is a small collection of my favorite things to gather when visiting someplace new, pressed pennies and photo booth strips. Sorry for the weak photograph of the stuff. Good photographs soon to follow since I just developed a couple rolls of film.

If you want to make my day and mail me (42 cent stamp) a pressed penny (two quarters plus one penny) from wherever you are. That 93 cents would sure make this boy happy.
