the biggest catch, the smallest pond

August 26, 2008

This is the movie that Dave Helman created using me and my time-lapse.

be sure to watch it in High definition!

I have lots of things to post in the coming weeks, but its all film so be patient.

Bike Movie

August 20, 2008

After all of my bike tests, I put together this movie with some help from Dave Helman. I used the other tripod head and it worked better, however there are just way too many vibrations that go through a bike. Helmet cams are a much better idea.

This will be my last bike mount video, because I got stuck on the mount and rode into traffic, thank God I didn't die (or my camera get damaged). So I hope you enjoy. Dave will have a full length movie with actual video involved.

please check out in High Definition!

The Crosby

August 18, 2008

THE CROSBY IS A RESTAURANT SLASH BOOKSTORE LOCATED RIGHT IN THE HEART OF "DOWNTOWN ORANGE COUNTY"

My friends have been telling me about The Crosby since before it opened. Due to my busy schedule I don't always get to see some of my friends all that often. On this night though it was a nice reunion at a great place.

My photos pictured here don't do the place justice. I hope to do a photoshoot there someday soon.

Summers End?

August 16, 2008

With school just around the corner, summer appears to be coming to an end.

I will be taking Spanish possibly with my pal Byron

I am sure it won't be the last I see of these two

Unfortunately Strands was not saved and this bluff will feature many more homes in the coming years

I won't miss the crowded beaches

main beach Laguna Beach

actually I am not too bummed about summer ending, I hate crowds.

Outa Town

August 14, 2008

I was invited to take a trip to Texas (Houston & San Antonio) with my girlfriend (pictured below) so I will be here for a week. Then I will be going to Outside Lands in San Francisco. Thanks to Blogger in Draft I have some blogs planned to show up while I am gone. Kinda like the Christmas lights in Home Alone.

Gregory Ortega

August 12, 2008

This is Greg Ortega. He is also a graphic designer and a pretty good skater, even with a bandaged ankle. These are from the same day I took photos with Matt. Here are some other photos I took of that day that Greg posted.

I like the sun flair in this shot

Greg's mug

I thought I published this photo before but I guess not. Matt was kind enough to buy us ice cream.

Black and White Film is Ilford Delta 100. Color film was free.

Matthew Jenson

August 11, 2008

This is Matt Jenson. He is a graphic designer, friend, and a fun guy to be around. On his somewhat recent visit to California from NYC, I had the pleasure of going on an adventure with him. We decided to go on a bike ride to a friends house a good 9 miles away to go skate his ramp. I did the ride on a very street friendly fixed gear, Matt rode a cheap, Target, girl, beach cruiser. He was a real trooper. We rode home too.

This is for an article in GQ

he is always stoked (Grant and Greg also featured)

did I mention he used to play soccer?

and the ride home.

Film is Ilford Delta 100 (a new film test if you are keeping track)

I love the train, I hate Amtrak

August 4, 2008

After living in NYC, I have come to love public transportation, especially trains. However due to a poor experience with Amtrak I would much rather find other ways of getting around then use that train.

A few months a go I took a trip to Santa Barbara and then on to Monterey with my bike via Amtrak train and bus. On the way back the bus driver said there wasn't enough room for my bike (which there was plenty, he was just lazy) so I had to leave it in Monterey. My friend Jeremy whom I was visiting had to ship my bike via Fed Ex, where it got damaged in transit. So I have been without my bike for about three weeks total. I am only writing this because I want to encourage people not to take Amtrak and if traveling by train to use the Metrolink or the San Diego Coaster, both of which are much cheaper.

Brother Dustin Headshot

August 2, 2008

My brother Dustin recently needed a headshot to get some athletic sponsors. He qualified for the ITU Duathlon World Championship in Rimini, Italy and has been training really hard and looking for sponsors to help him on his way. Here is the shot I took, retouched by the talented David Esler.
